Announcing Organized Play for Vibes TCG

We are thrilled to unveil the Organized Play structure for Vibes, our physical and digital trading card game based on the beloved Pudgy Penguins IP. While everything outlined here is subject to change, this guide will help players plan, strategize, prepare their decks, and get excited for the upcoming competitive season!

Prize Support

Vibes Online competitive play is powered by PENGU for the 2025 Organized Play season, beginning with Season 0 Dummy Thicc players and ramping up through the World Championships. 

Our paper tournaments will feature cash prize support, along with exclusive rewards such as:

• Limited-edition cards

• Playmats

• Uncut sheets

As the Vibes game & game economy evolves, more exciting Vibes native rewards will be introduced! (More on that soon). 

Organized Play Structure

Zonal Championships (IRL Paper Tournaments)

We will host three Zonal Championships across different regions:

Americas Championship

• Date & Location: May 18th, Connecticut

• Host: TBA

• Prize Support:

  • $20,000 cash

  • Exclusive playmat for all competitors

  • Exclusive physical & digital promo for all competitors

  • Exclusive physical cards for top finishers

  • Special 1st place prize

Asian Championship

European Championship

Qualification to World Championships

• The Top 8 finishers from each Zonal Championship qualify for the World Championships.

• If there is no clean Top 8 cut, tie-breakers will not be used; instead, additional games will determine top 8 placements.

• Each Zonal Champion receives a bye at Worlds.

• Pro Points are awarded to all participants based on final placement. The top finisher receives 100 pro points and there is a linear decrease to 1 pro point for the last place finisher in a stepwise fashion (ex if there is 100 players, 1st: 100, 2nd: 99, 3rd: 98 … 99th: 2, 100th: 1).

Vibes Online Seasons

We will have four online ranked seasons that count towards 2025 championships:

• Season 0 – Ends February 21, 2025

  • Rewards are powered by PENGU, in order to receive your rewards, you will need to connect either a Sol wallet or an Abstract Global Wallet to your account in the account page on the vibes.game website. 

  • Players in Dummy Thicc at the end of that season get that season’s exclusive Dummy Thicc Playmat. We are still working out some logistics here since this is a physical item, if you live in a jurisdiction that is difficult to ship to from the US, we will make best efforts to get it to you but also make no promises.

• Season 1 – Ends May 21, 2025

• Season 2 – Ends August 21, 2025

• Season 3 – Ends November 10, 2025

Qualification to World Championships

• The Top 8 finishers from each Vibes Online season qualify for Worlds.

• If a qualified player repeats, their spot passes to the next highest-ranked player.

• Each Season Champion receives a bye at Worlds.

• Pro Points are awarded to all "Dummy Thicc" ranked players in descending order based on their placement. The top finisher receives 100 pro points and there is a linear decrease to 1 pro point for the last place finisher in a stepwise fashion (ex if there is 100 players, 1st: 100, 2nd: 99, 3rd: 98 … 99th: 2, 100th: 1).

Pro Points System

• Players can earn Pro Points across 7 total opportunities (4 online seasons + 3 Zonal Championships).

• Only each players top 3 performances count towards final standings.

• At the end of the season, the Top 16 players (not otherwise qualified) earn a Worlds invite.

• The Top 4 Pro Point finishers receive an additional bye at Worlds (byes stack with Zonal/Seasonal Champion byes).

Wildcard Spots

Up to 8 wildcard spots for World Championships will be granted at the discretion of Orange Cap Games. These spots could go to:

• Prominent community members

• Pro players from other games

• Celebrities

• Players with remarkable performance (e.g., finishing 9th in every season)

Important: Cyber begging for wildcard spots will not be entertained. The only certain way to make sure that we do not pick you for the wildcard spot is to annoy us about it.

The Vibes 2025 World Championships

World Championships will take place in December at the Barron’s Ice Castle. 

More details soon, prize support for the event as well as qualifying events should cover travel and lodging for World Championships for all who qualify. In addition card availability will not be a constraint for players at worlds, even if you qualify digitally, and don’t own physical cards. 

Last Chance Qualifier

The day before the World Championships starts, we will host a Last Chance Qualifier tournament at the World Championships Venue. This tournament does not count for pro points, however, the winner of the tournament qualifies to Worlds the next day. 

Additional Notes

• Dummy Thicc Rankings: The ranking algorithm will evolve season-to-season. Season 0 focused on win rate and number of games played. Future seasons will take into account who your opponent for each game is while still taking into account both win rate and games played. 

• Championship Formats: Details on match structure (Best of 1 vs. Best of 3) will be finalized through testing at our New York HQ and announced shortly. Please keep an eye out for opportunities to come to practice tournaments in New York (these will not count towards pro points or be part of organized play, save your travel for the Zonal champs if you are far away from the city). 

• Employee Participation: Orange Cap Games employees are barred from Zonal Championships and cannot earn Pro Points or Worlds qualifications in online play. If they would earn points or qualification those points and qualifications pass down to the next person who would otherwise get it. 

• Participation Flexibility: Players may compete in any Zonal Championship, regardless of residency, and can enter multiple Zonal events.

Philosophy of Organized Play

Our goal is to make Vibes an exciting experience for both play and collecting. The system is designed to reward both dedication and skill:

• Online Seasons reward players who play consistently and grind games.

• Zonal Championships reward players with strong win rates and high-level performance.

Your Path to Worlds

No matter when you start playing, there is a clear path to qualification. You can:

• Top 8 a Zonal Championship.

• Top 8 an Online Season.

• Accumulate Pro Points and secure an invite.

• Win the Last Chance Qualifier

We believe that players who put in the effort and achieve the necessary level of skill should be rewarded, and our system reflects that commitment.

We know that season 0 happened during Alpha and that in the Alpha there have been bugs, many of which have impacted rankings and game results. The qualification path through season 0 heavily favors lots of games played. That is intentional, it’s our view that over a large enough sample size of games you should incorrectly win & loose roughly the same amount due to bugs. Alternatively even if the average player loses extra often due to bugs, then this should be evenly impactful to all top players. We will do a deeper review of how this impacted specifically 9th-16th place players in Dummy Thicc. Our team does not have the ability to add or remove wins from your record in the database, please set expectations appropriately. 

Finally, while this year’s Organized Play prioritizes online play and large championship events due to our globally distributed player base, we are committed to expanding the program as the game grows. We are excited to see a number of local game shops start supporting Vibes and also local communities form. While they will not be part of the World Championships qualification paths this year, please let us know if you have a local community that comes together to play vibes, we are excited to support local gameplay however we can!
